Scattered PIC-tures....

Alrighty, I'm totally cheating here. Bonny had a really fun blog entry challenging all of her readers to tell a memory they had of her, and the most amusing one would win a prize.

I'm going to request the same from any of you reading this. However, it will have to be pure intrinsic motivation that gets you to play along, because I have no prize to offer for the most amusing memory. Well, maybe I have a better idea. Every single one of you that records a memory in the comments will have the right to request homemade chocolate chip cookies from me at any given time (understanding that the production turnaround will be no less than 24 hours.)

This is redeemable forever, so if you're not in my vicinity currently then next time you're here vacationing or visiting family or have made the trek purely for the cookie's sake (which is understandable because I make a mean chocolate chip cookie), so be it. Also, a special prize for the first person who can make sense of the title of this entry.

So start racking your brains, kids. I'd love to hear what memories of me have stuck in your heads. Also because at the rate my own memory is failing me I can use the reminding. Ready go!

Oh, the picture at the top is pretty old... though that's probably pretty close to what I look like squinting nowadays. I put it on this entry because I'm looking back. Which is what you'll all be doing. Get it? Ha. Ahaha.

My most fond memory of you is when we were in the RS Pres. with me and I was freaking out because I was almost engaged and things were crazy and I broke into tears at our meeting. And you kindly said to me, don't despair. That's stayed with me for a long time, and you are wonderful.

I remember the cute little boy at the baseball game in Arizona. I remember the long drive to AZ in the Element. I remember my broken arm at the ward campout and you, Cindy, and Katey taking care of me. I remember you helping me put my bed together that one time...we bought wood planks. We threw a college friends party at your house once summer. I remember living in Continental and my good friends kept talking about their friend Haley who would be moving into the ward. They had nothing but awesome things to say. I was dying to meet you.

I remember when I recruited you to be in a ridiculous melodrama and I brought you to the first practice but I didn't know what your name was. So I said this is my friend but didn't say your name and I just let you tell everyone your name so that I could hear it.

I remember your Indiana Jones song...and I probably requested you to sing it too many times, but only because I think it's brilliant.

You gave me one of the best compliments I have ever received. When we were in the singles ward together you told me that when you would shop for clothes you would ask yourself, "Would Lera wear this?" That made me feel so good. Now when I am getting dressed and I wonder if people think I should dress more like a conservative mom, I think "Haley would like it!"

My fondest memories of you mostly happened back when we were regular IMers in the early part of this decade, when Brittany was kissing people and you wanted to be called Sheenanee or something for a moment in time. I think I've still got a bunch of those saved somewhere.

YourAudience: but honeslty... you've proved to be a trooper
YourAudience: honestly
MisterKerr: I'm a topper?
MisterKerr: oh trooper
YourAudience: hehe
MisterKerr: sorry, I misread it
YourAudience: but you could be an Arctic Circle Topper if you wish :-)
MisterKerr: thanks, I think

My memories are here and there most of the time. Need to smell some familiar smell or sound to pick back up wherever they left off on the broken record. But I do remember in senior year when I bleached my long hair (long again now) and it came out in several different shades of fall colors from brown to red to gold, and I was looking to see who noticed it for shock value in Drama. And the first real reaction I got was Haley walking into the room, she looked over at me sitting in the chair, went to talk to Daniel, then she did a double take and screamed with bright eyes blazing.

That was fun.

I remember the time that I was in Pirated Penzance and I was running around with a squirt gun and accidentally squirt Emily Millet in the eyes. She didn't know it was me because I was hidden behind a curtain and the trajectory was just right... like I say, it was an accident. But it was kind of sad and kind of funny at the same time. Anyway, I think you were around somewhere that day... and you were at least in the audience for Pirated Penzance, weren't you?

Styx. Need I say more? Great music, great friend, great times! Also there was that time when I first met you. Also there was the time we were at second dam and you enlightened my mind to the concept of alpha males. And there was the time that you sat and listened to me in your office as many times as I needed, and I thank you for that Hales. You, my friend, are the best!!!

I remember a long bus ride for USU Institute Choir down to the Marriott Center to sing in a CES Fireside. We had a good heart to heart, and I finally got you to talk a little about yourself, instead of you just being the awesome listener that you are. Of course, we also did discuss your roommate who I was then dating.

Then, said roommate gave me a ride back to Logan after the fireside and broke up with me en route. But of course it all worked out in the end.

I remember you and I trying to get Contra to work on the Nintendo and after several minutes of trying, we performed the ever famous sacrilegious prayer to the Nintendo Gods.

Oh! And who, I ask, can forget the best time ever! Picture this: we're laying on the floor, looking at what appears to be...the ceiling. Turns out that we are looking at the ceiling, but there is something moving....can you guess? Ah, yes, of course you can. Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the 7 Stars. Projector. Ceiling. The ultimate way to be lazy!

Haley Bop,

I will never ever forget walking down the path to the lodge at Oakcrest and seeing you dressed as a palm tree. I got the giggles and couldn't stop, which seemed to happen a lot when I was with you. You're so witty and clever. I will also never forget the day you and Buckwheat and I found out we were going to be roommates and how excited we were. That was an awesome month for me. I'll be in town in two weeks...and I love chocolate chip cookies! :)

I remember walking home from school with you and hearing your brother playing the trumpet from like, two blocks away.

And I remember licking butter from those popcorn bags that made mystery colored popcorn, and the unfortunate dental mishap that followed. *laugh*

I have to say that one of my all time favorite memories with you is one from Crazy for You, when you and I would do the songs of the leads backstage. My favorite one being "What Causes That" and sometimes I would be Nate Winder and you would be Dan Burke and some times you would be Nate Winder and I would be Dan Burke. ANd we'd perform it how they were doing it on stage for every one who wanted to watch in Field's room. Oh good times. If you wanted a more serious memory then the time when we were doing Charlie Brown and I came in to rehearsal and you were sitting in the big recliner and you saw that I was sad and you patted your lap and I sat on your lap and just talked and you comforted me (something that happened a lot). You were seriously like the older sister I never had, that year.
